Explain Ryle’s point about the foreigner visiting the University.
Gilbert Ryle was Wittgenstein’s contemporary at the Oxford University. Ryle came out with his ideas and views in the form of The Concept of Mind, talking about mind-body problems.
Ryle very nicely explained the difference between the two phrases ‘knowing how’ and ‘knowing that’, which applies to human reasoning. He explained this with the help of an example of salt and french fries, saying that salt enhances the taste of the fries but the mechanism and mode of reaction between the two is not known.
