These are common tests to administer to a new client at a fitness center - commercial or clinical. You would likely not do all of these tests (lab and field), but would select at least one test from each component. Below are two descriptions of 'clients.' Select one of these (state which one you are using) and list the tests that you would choose to use to assess the five components of fitness for this client. Explain why you chose the specific tests that you did.

Client 1 is a 30 year old male. He recently took a new accounting job and has joined the gym because his employer provides a free membership. He played football and basketball in high school and participated in intramural basketball throughout college. He lifts weights 1-2 times per week, but this can be sporadic. He has also noticed that he has gained about 10 pounds since graduating college. He would like to increase his strength and is also interested in training for a 5k race. He tells you that losing those extra 10 pounds would be a great bonus!

Client 2 is a 70 year old female. She retired 5 years ago after being a school teacher. She walks at least 5 days per week, 1-2 miles per day and does yoga 2 days per week. She is at a healthy weight, but she worries that her strength is deteriorating and the yoga has not been enough to keep this up. She has joined the gym primarily to work on her strength and to provide some social activities. She is interested in participating in group strength training and aerobics classes but wants to make sure she will be able to keep up.
