Type 1 diabetes mellitus
23.1, Definition:
Type 1 diabetes mellitus is a disease that occurs when the body
does not make enough insulin for controlling the blood sugar
level.
23.2, Type 1 diabetes mellitus occurs when insulin-producing cells
in the pancreas are destroyed that cause no insulin when there is
no insulin, sugar accumulated in the blood and enter into the
cells. insulin is a hormone produced in the pancreas when glucose
rise in the blood pancreas normally produces insulin to control
sugar level.
23.3, signs:
Frequent urination, more thirst, more hunger, weight loss, mood
changes, fatigue, blurred vision.
23.4, Insulin therapy provides glycemic control and improves the
quality of life for diabetes patients and it reduces diabetic
complications. insulin therapy prevents the blood sugar level from
getting too low or high and prevents long term complications. The
beneficial effect of insulin therapy support type 1 diabetes and
act as an early glycemic control and provide micro and
macrovascular protection.
