4. Order dose Meperdine 20 mg IM q4h

Medication labeled 60mg/ml

20mg + 60mg/ml = 0.33ml

Answer - The patient requires 0.33ml per dose, as it is a prn medication ( Short term or as needed) so, the pharmacy will provide 1ml which can be taken un 3 dosages according to order.

Order dose amikacin 10mg/kg IM, tid

Patient weight 230 lbs (104.5 kg)

So, Desire dose will be

104.5kg x 10mg/kg = 1045mg

Medication available 250mg/ml

1045mg + 250mg/ml = 4.18ml (4.2ml)

Answer - The patient needs 4.2 ml of drug per dose and the pharmacy will dispense 5 ml.

Order dose 40 mg Po bid for 10 days

Means the patient needs 80 mg daily (40mg x 2dose = 80mg)

The patient will need 800 mg for 10 days (80mgdaily x 10days = 800mg)

Available drug 20 mg per ml

So, 800mg + 20mg/ml = 40ml

Answer - Patient will take 40 ml of solution for 10 days
