1.Simukation is one of the best method used on the nursing training where the students act by creating an atmosphere of healthcare system with a patient or only patient and practicing on them .This can make them to practice confidentiality because errors or mistakes will not affect anyone rather it will improve the learning. The best way to prepare for simulation are to have better theoretical knowledge about the disease condition selected for the simulation class to exhibit correctly. Then going through the resources on text and internet to know about how simulation can be done helps to gain additional knowledge. Discussion with the friends, colleagues and the teachers to make necessary corrections.

2.The ethical considerations which involves in the simulation are it can make the students to be empathetic in handling the feeling and emotions of a patient. Though the simulation lack the presence of any real patient, this environment can make them to deal with the ethical challenge of a patient in real life.by making an appropriate decision

3.Catheter are generally used to drain fluid( urine ) from the body. The sizes of catger ranges from 5Fr to 26Fr.The lowest size is used in infants and higher the Fr number is used in adults and certain procedure .The infants are used with 5Fr or less than that ,children's are recommended from 8Fr to 12 Fr.The teens or adolescents are recommended with 12Fr to 20Fr.The adults are generally recommended for 16 Fr.

4.IV infiltration refers to sweeping of the intravenous fluid onto the nearby tissue. The following thing has to be done immediately

  • Stop the IV infusion if on flow
  • Assess the site for tenderness, redness ,oozing
  • Application of cold warm compression can relieve pain and inf li radiation as per order (warm compression is recommended in an infusion of isotonic solution, if the fluid is hypertonic then cold compression is recommended)
  • Elevate the limb or site to prevent swelling or edema due to gravitational force

5.The best way to implement IV insertion in the clinical setting are

  • Gain a thorough theoretical knowledge on the site of IV insertion (veins)
  • Check for the indication for IV insertion in patient (when iv infusion or IV drugs are ordered)
  • Explain the procedure to the patient to win support and lower anxiety and increase comfort
  • Hand washing
  • Gather all the equipment (IV cannula(to insert), tourniquet(to make the vein prominent by tieing), alcohol swabs(to disinfect the site) ,NS flush(to make latency and check for flow), sterile gloves(sterile procedure to prevent infection) ,adhesive tapes(to fix),kidney tray(to collect wastes)
  • Select the site.
  • Apply tourniquet above the site nearly 10 to 15 cm above
  • Tap gently to make vain prominent
  • Clean with alcohol swab and let it dry
  • Insert the IV cannula in a 15° angle
  • Assess for blood backflow which is the confirmation of the line in vein
  • Flush with NS and close the lock
  • Secure it with tape
  • Date it with sign
  • Administer medication or IVF as per order
