Answer #1

(1): The leadership strategy that was used by my supervisor was based on influencing, engaging and encouraging excellent performance. My supervisor defined and communicated the goals and objectives clearly and hence a clear mission as well as vision was set. He then empowered team members and delegated tasks and responsibilities to them. Role of each member was clearly defined and thus there was a good use of collective capability.

(2): In terms of strengths my leader is visionary, articulate and can encourage effective and meaningful collaboration. This ensures that the team is working efficiently as a group and the sum of the parts is always higher.

(3): In terms of weaknesses my leader has the primary weakness of excessive connectivity. His leadership is based on omnipresent approach and hence he drives an unnecessary need to constantly accomplish more. This builds unnecessary pressure for employees.

(4): Other examples of leadership that I have observed are – spotting a problem at work and then finding an optimal solution to that problem. A problem may not have an immediate solution and I have seen how leaders break down the problem so that even if a desirable and immediate solution cannot be obtained at least an optimal solution is obtained.

(5): I would like to be a transformational leader. As a transformational leader I will inspire others and motivate them to perform to the best of their abilities. I will encourage a high level of productivity and involvement from the employees.
