Therapautic communication is an active process where communication techniques are being used in which their is interaction between the nurse and patient giving importance to the physical, mental and emotional well being of the patients.It helps the nurse to provide support and information maintaining professional distance between them.Nurses use various techniques of communication such as use silence, open ended statements and questions, active listening , seeking clarification, making observations, offering hope to prompt patients to work through problems on their own.Nurse should use technique of silence which provides patient an opportunity to think what comes next in conversation.
