Electrolytes in body fluid

0.9 % sodium chloride solution is prepared by adding 0.9 g (900 mg ) of sodium chloride to 100 mL which contain 150 mEq/L of Na+ and Cl- . Na carries positive charges (Cation) where as Chlorine carries Negative charge (Anion)

0.4%sodium chloride solution is prepared by adding 0.45 g (450 mg ) of sodium chloride to 100 mL which contain 77mEq/L of Na+ and Cl- . Na carries positive charges (Cation) where as Chlorine carries Negative charge (Anion)

Types of IV solutions 0.9 % Sodium chloride injection 0.45% Sodium chloride injection
Cations Na+ - 150 Na+ - 77
Anions Cl- - 150 Cl- - 77
