INDICATION
*Pregnancy and other obstetrical conditions in Rh negative women, unless the father or baby are conclusively Rh negative.
-Pregnancy or delivery of an Rh negative baby irrespective of the ABO groups of the mother and the baby.
-Abortion or threatened abortion at any stage of gestation.
-Ectopic pregnancy.
-Antepartum fetal - maternal hemorrhage resulting from antepartum hemorrhage, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, other obstetrical manipulative procedures.
-Transfusion of Rh incompatible blood or blood products.
DOSAGE
-Atrial single dose (approximately 300mcg) is contained in each prefilled syringe of RhoGAM (rho(d) immune globulin (human).
SIDE EFFECTS
-injection site reactions (pain, discomfort, tenderness).
-nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting, stomach pain, fever.
-headache, dizziness.
_drowsiness, weakness, general ill feeling.
-joint or muscle pain.
_pale or yellowed skin, dark coloured urine.
-flushing (warmth, redness, or tingly feeling)
CONTRAINDICATIONS
*who should not take Rho (D) immune globulin solution
The following conditions are contraindicated with this drug.
-mononucleosis,
-the kissing disease
-leukemia
-diabetes
-high amount of triglycerides in the blood
-monoclonal gammopathy
-a condition with abnormal proteins in the blood.
-dehydration
-Lack of immunoglobulin A
-destruction of red blood cells by body 's antibodies.
_significant anaemia
-disseminated intravascular coagulation
-accute kidney failure
-systemic lupus erythematous
-an autoimmune disease
-malignant lymphoma
-hepatitis C
-sepsis
-intravascular hemolysis
