NURSING

Nursing can be described as both an art and a science.Nurses have great role in health industry primarily focusses on patient care. Due to the vast range of specialisms and complex skills in the nursing profession, each nurse will have specific strengths, passions, and expertise.

To obtain a nursing degree one have to complete their higher secondary education in science (biology,physics,chemistry and maths). Nursing is a four year course. Along with theory you will be equipped with practical skills.

After its compltion, you can start your career as a staff nurse in a hospital or as a school health nurse or industrial nurse.Otherwise you can pursue higher studies in like Post graduation,M.Phil and Doctorate.

As a staff nurse, you can work and get exposed to and there by handle,treat various disease conditions,  different kinds of people. Foremost qualities required is patience,kindness and presence of mind.

Nurses work in a variety of settings and specialties. They may choose to practice in hospitals, nursing homes, medical offices, ambulatory care, occupational health, and community health centers, schools, clinics, camps, and shelters.

Remueration:

The nursing salary is expected to be $133,935 per year.Salary will be paid mothly. Apart from this, there are additional ways to increase earnings as a nurse like working overtime or on-call shifts,working in higher paying specialties by gaining certifications and advanced degrees,traveling to other higher paying states,becoming a nurse educator.

Daily Duties

1) General management ,supervision and providing nursing care for the patients.

2) Preparing diet sheet, calculating drug dosages and administering as per doctors order.

3) Preparing inventory of the ward or department.

4) Admission and discharge of patients.

5) To use technical procedures e.g. enema, Catheterization, dressing, oxygen, therapy etc.

6) Collection labeling and dispatching of specimens.

7) Distribution of diets, milk etc.

8) Washing and feeding feeble patients.

9)Assisting doctors in their procedures.

Retirement

Average age for retirement is 62.

For a Government employee. after retirement they will be paid $6,000 per month.

Vacation time

How much time you get as vacation depends on the speciality you are working. If you work as a professional teacher you will get more off days compared to clinical staff. As a clinical staff you will have to work even in holidays based on staff strength and depending on any emergency cases.
