Jen is 30 minutes to an hour late 2 to 3 days a week. You have talked to her about it repeatedly and even given her a written warning. It is now 2 weeks since the written warning and there has not been an improvement.

How would you handle the situation if you were an effective HIM manager who practices progressive discipline measures? Justify written approach; why is this the best solution?

A progressive discipline measure is all about dealing with job related behavioural problems that does not meet the expectations set by an institution you work with. It helps the employees to improve his/her performance concerned with the problem.

After two written warning given to the employee, The HIM manager looks for any improvement in his/her performance , as mention above if there is no improvement the next step is suspension without payment.

A written approach is the second step in the disciplinary action taken towards employee. This step is a obvious yes for termination if there is no improvement noticed. Written approach is filed in the employees handbook which can place the employee at risk for future employment if terminated from the present institution. Hence this approach will bring in some serious effect on the employee, and motivate the employee to bring in changes in his/ her behavior
