Saudi arabia has mainly 3 most hazardous environmental health issues which are : desertification, air pollution and water pollution.

1.1. Desertification is the main health issues faced by environmental problems but apart from it the other major cause of health issues related to environmental problem is air pollution.

1.2. The most affected part of Saudi Arabia by air pollution are:

- dammam

- al jubail and

- riyadh

1.3. It started since the year of 1991 in the Saudi Arabia after the gulf war.

2. The major causes of the health problems are :

- discovery of the oil

- third leading aluminium producer and

- the sandstorms occurrence due to the emission from the vehicles and industries

These are the major causes of the environmental health problems in the people of Saudi Arabia.

3. The re are various health effects because or air pollution. Such as:

- respiratory inflammation

- metabolic disorders: - diabetes mellitus

- cardiovascular diseases

- atherosclerosis

- chronic obstructive diseases

- lung cancer

- asthma

- premature mortality

- decreased birth weight etc.

4. Solutions opted in decreasing the problem caused by air pollution in Saudi Arabia are:

- adoption of the " environment protection policy" in the basic law of governance. This law states that " the state shall work towards the preservation , protection and improvement of the environment of Saudi, as well as to prevent the pollution affecting the air of Saudi Arabia".

The kingdom of Saudi has participated in various environmental protecting efforts like by donating about 300 USD to establish a research fund for the energy and the environment which was held on OPEC summit in the year 2007.

In the year 2013 , it completed the largest ever environmental project involving the gulf war of 1991.

It has also implemented policies and procedures in order to combat the epidemics and diseases that affects the citizens of Saudi like: public health pest management and environmental reforms and assessments.

Like wise there are various different programmes established by the government of the kingdom of saudi in order to protect its environment, citizens as well as the animals or wildlife residing in Saudi Arabia.
