My social style at work is more of Amiable style.
I am more friendly, am very supportive towards my colleagues and for me the relationship with my work family is more important.
It makes me more concerned about the feelings of the people surrounding me and their opinion towards me and my work. So I am more likely to be very careful and very conscious while doing any of my work.
About the different social style in different situations, sometimes my social style tends to vary according to the situation untill I become comfortable with my situation. For instance when I am with my co workers I feel very comfortable and hence i joke around with them, make them laugh and help them with their works if they have piles to finish. But when I am Infront of my superiors I change my style and become very polite, humble, quiet and kind of reserved. But once I am comfortable with that situation then I become a little free and start to show my actual work style, not to much extent but a little like communicating little more, sharing my opinions etc.
My style is pretty much same everywhere whether I am at home or at work or out with friends. I am more supportive, become friendly and am very much conscious about my relationship with other people.
My style have been both successful as well as a bit of unsuccessful. Successful because people are more comfortable around me, they do not have to pretend or try to show what they are not. People feel more cozy to communicate with me and think that am more approachable. They tend to share most of their feelings with me rather than with people who are more of reserved kind. My colleagues help me when I need them and my work load is shared with them. But the superiors do not agree with my work style. They tell me to be more serious towards my work and goal. They tend to trust less and often give less opportunities to me rather than to others.
I think a change which I would like to bring on me is being a little less friendly than what I am now and try to say no to the things that I don't want to do, as my co workers try to take more advantage of my friendliness. The next thing I want to change is being less agreeable and more defiant and give my own opinion on certain things.
People have mixed feelings about this work style. Some people think that this style is more better to have in an employee as they are more friendly, good to be around, more agreeable, etc. But some think this as an inappropriate style as this shows less maturity in a person and the person seems less interested in their work.
