EXTERNSHIP EDUCATIONAL GOALS AND EXPECTATIONS:

Externship education is experiential academic experience in which a student has intentional learning goals and objectives with measurable outcomes . Externship education will help the student to determine if that particular career field is the right fit for them.if the find that it is suitable for them they can work to obtain additional experience and knowledge within that field during the college years. the externship experience helps to build confidence and increase the clarity of career goals and helps to understand their strengths and weaknesses. Externship practices can help students develop their skills such as research and writing interviewing, and gathering, organization, and communication of facts.it will help students challenge their existing skills and expect a high level of competent performance.it helps students in developing a sense of professional responsibility.it promotes individual learning habit.it improves understanding of the range of possible options available at each decision point.

The goals and objectives may include

• Academic learning: student may test and apply knowledge learned in the classroom to a professional work environment.
• career development; the student may explore a specific field of interest, expand his or her professional network and gain an understanding of the qualifications and duties.
• skill development; student gains an understanding of the transferable skills and knowledge required for success in a professional work environment and integrates those skills in their academic learning.
