Answer #1

#. Descriptive analysis is the application of statistical techniques to summarise and make sense of a particular set of data . It summarize a data set. Do not make inferences about the total population

Provide summaries about the sample and measures:-

-Distribution

- Range

-Central Tendency

Mean: Ratio, Interval

Median: Ratio, Interval, Ordinal

-Dispersion

- Variance

- SD

#. Inferential Statistics

Inferential statistics are techniques that allow us to use these samples to make generalizations about the populations from which the samples were drawn.

2 methods of inferential statistics

The methods of inferential statistics are (1) the estimation of parameter(s) and (2) testing of statistical hypotheses.

#. Qualitative analysis - Research that involves description. Is observed rather than measured. Practical for small populations. Difficult to compare with other studies. Requires the research's interpretative skills.

Data analysis is important or necessary for discovering credible findings for nursing because it helps to discover useful information , makes conclusions ,and supports decision making .

#. Clinical significance - the magnitude of the effect is clinically meaningful .

Statistical significance - statistical test that meets the alpha level necessary to reject the null hypothesis .

According to my understanding , statistical significance is more meaningful to me when considering application of findings to nursing practice because research conclude the effect is not zero and say that it is statistically significant .
