Some genes are transcribed using one strand of DNA as the template, while other genes are transcribed using the other strand. Explain how this is possible and why this is advantageous to the cell, and for storing
genetic information.

It depends on where the transcriptional promoters are located. If there are transcriptional promoters on both strands of your template, then you will get RNA from both strands. Usually, when transcribing from plasmids and linear PCR products, there will only be one transcriptional promoter at a defined site. When working with genomic DNA, there are probably going to be multiple transcription promoters. It helps in better regulation.
