What are your general stressors? What are your specific stressors? Why do these things cause you stress? How do you usually respond to these stressors? What is the result of your response? What would your desired response be? Describe and explain two tips on coping with stress and how you plan to implement the tips into your life. (Do not just say I will exercise more but give specific details about what you actually plan to do)
General stressors that impact me in my everyday life include relationship difficulties, illnesses, loneliness, working under deadlines, and meeting expectations of others. Specific stressors that tend to bother me is my surroundings being untidy, traffic, noisy environments and disagreements with others. These things cause me stress because I perceive them to disrupt my peaceful state of mind. These things are also personally relevant to me, which is why overcoming any challenges with respect to them becomes essential.
When I am stressed, I tend to engage more in avoidance coping strategies, rather than attacking the problem directly. For instance, I may emotionally distance myself from the problem or I may procrastinate certain important tasks. It may also be that I distract myself from the stressor by engaging in other, mindless activities. As a result, I tend to generate additional stress and anxiety for myself in the long run, because I do realize that these are not healthy ways to cope with stress.
