Strategic human resource management (SHRM) refers to the field of management which is involved in managing the human resource element of the organization in accordance to the strategies framed and followed by the organization. It means managing the employees in such a way so that they are easily inclined into or become a part of the strategies framed to achieve the goals and objectives. For example: in an organization, training is offered to the employees in such a way so that they are technically sound and well versed with the latest upcoming AI technology. This means that employees are trained keeping in mind the strategies formulated by organization of being technically good.
SHRM can also be termed as the connection between the human resource department of the company and the strategies formulated by the organization. It is a way to make sure that the employees are managed and taught in a way so they turn out to be an asset for the company and help in fulfilment of the organizational strategies set.
The main aim of SHRM is to attract the right kind of employees in the company and ensure that the goals are achieved by the employees by working as per the set strategies and making sure that the employees remain engaged, motivated and render high performance and output for the welfare of themselves and of the company. For example TATA as an organization makes sure to employee the best fit employees into their organization in accordance with the policies and strategies framed for hiring, further the company ensures engaging the employees on regular basis by offering rewards, recognizing them on various platforms. All this is done so that the strategy to achieve high goals and perform well is well achieved without any drawbacks.
SHRM is not an independent activity, but an interdependent and inter liked activity which is linked to the strategies of the organization and aims to manage the human resources in collaboration with the strategies of the organization. SHRM is a reason behind the organizational success where the efforts to make the department stronger and effective becomes easy and quick.
