Explanation -

PCR or the polymerase chain reaction is the technique by which multiple copies of the given DNA segment can be produced. During each cycle of the PCR, the amount of the DNA gets doubled.

PCR consists of three steps that are:

Denaturation of the given double-stranded DNA (which needed to be amplified or produce in multiple copies) that are separated into two  DNA single-strand;

Annealing where the two DNA primers (short DNA single-strand and complementary to the given DNA strand is added to the reaction) binds to the two single-stranded DNA strands;

The 3rd step is Extension where the many DNA nucleotides (dNTPs) are added to the DNA primers by the help of the heat-stable DNA polymerase (Taq polymerase) and the length of the DNA new strand increases by the addition of the DNA nucleotides. Thus the two single-stranded DNA becomes the twp double-stranded DNA.
