1. Compare and contrast the key health issues faced by LMICs and HICs, that is what types of health issues are most important (identify at least the top 3 for each group), how are these similar or different, and how are they being addressed?
Answer:
HICs: In the high-income group they have access to better health care and hygiene practices in water and food consumption. The major disease incidence in this income class is related to lifestyle-related illnesses such as Diabetes, Heart ailments, obesity, and mental health-related problems. They are being addressed through an integrated health care system, patient focussed, and efficient health care system. Better care continuity for the patient through horizontal integration.
LMICs - Health issues faced by them are more chronic and severe in nature which often occurs in combination due to poor health care systems. Key health issues are related to diseases like Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS, Childhood illness, and water and foodborne diseases like Cholera, They are addressed through Vertical health care system, disease-focused, and treatment for specific diseases and not an integrated approach available. Due to lack of system and organizational integration, the total care is not possible to achieve and the medical interventions are not integrated with non-medical integration such as social issues.
