Answer #1

a) The Current Capacity of the entire process is 5 unit /hr . As the operation D can produce 5unit in and hr.

Operation A , Operation B, Operation C and operation D , E , F are differente series and is parallel activity that can simultaneously process , though in and hour Operation D will process only 5 unit which can be completed in hour .

b ) Throughput time is the time taken by a unit to complete the process and The Operation A,B ,C and Operation D, E, F can work simultaneously because of parallel activity , the time taken to complete all activity upto point of Operation G will be Consider

Unit per hour Time for One unit
Operation A 15unit /hour 1hr ×60 min /15 unit per hr 4 minute per unit
Operation B 12unit/hr 60/12 5 min
Operation C 20/hr 60/20 3 Min
Operation D 5/hr 60/5 12min
Operation E 8/Hr 60/8 7.5min
Operation F 12/hr 60/12 5 min
Operation G 30/hr 60/30 2 min

Operatio

H

25/hr 60/25 2.4 min

Total time take for Series of operation A B C = 4+5 +3=12 min

And Operation D - E - F = 12+ 7.5+ 5= 25.5

Hence Thoroughput Time to complete the process = 25.5 +2+2.4 = 28.9 min or 0.48 hours

c) As the series operation of A - B - C ,the operation B which can process max unit per hour is 12 unit , Hence the parallel series of operation D and E to be increase to 12 unit per hour, so

Operation Capacity to increase Capacity increase by
Operation D 12-5= 7 unit
Operation E 12-8= 4 Unit

Hence after increase in operation capacity of D and E the entire process capacity will be 12 unit per hour .

    1. The process is performed by several resources. 2. Resources are shared across assembly lines (i.e., workers must multitask and perform multiple activities for every flow unit.) 3. The resource that limits hourly production is not the same resource that limits the process lead-time.
