Demonstrate the subnetting process?
Answer)
Subnetting is the process in networking where we can divide the
large IP network into smaller parts of networks that operate.
Subnetting is created for creating the smaller networks which are
more manageable than a single large network.
For example: if we have a large network of 10000000 in a single
network, then there can be problems such as broadcasting problems,
collisions, and the network will face performance problems, thus we
break the network into an equivalent number of hosts and
computers.
Let's start the example by IP address:
192.168.5.85
/24
As it is /24, thus the subnet mask will be:
255.255.255.0
We need to convert the IP and subnet mask in binary and do AND operation.
The AND operation of the binary IP and Subnet will be:
11000000. 10101000. 00000101. 00000000
AND operation Result:
192. 168. 5. 0
Broadcast address in this case:
192. 168. 5. 255
Host address range will be:
192. 168. 5. 1 to 192. 168. 5. 254
