Genetic loci on the same chromosome are said to be syntenic. Syntenic loci that are close to each other arelinked together. Mendel's law states that the alleles of the linked loci are inherited together more often than expected. Whereas in linkage analysis, the distance between the linked loci is determined. One of the member of the homologous chromosome pair in which the alleles at linked loci received from one parent is referred as haplotype. The seggregation of haplotypes in a family followed in a similar way as the segregation of alleles. This study aims to establish the linkage between the disease gene and genetic marker. This seggregation analysis is used to determine the most likely mode of inheritance from family data. From the linkage analysis the locus of the affected gene transmitted to the affected person ( phenotypic expression of the disease) can be identified.
