Answer #1

Answer- maintenance methyltransferase

Explanation- The enzyme methyl transferase transfers methyl group to the newly synthesized DNA strand when old DNA strand is already methylated. This reestablishment of methylation pattern occurs at the time of DNA replication where daughter DNA is synthesized from parent DNA and as semiconservative method of DNA replication, old parental strand is already methylated but that pattern is reestablished onto new strand by this enzyme where maintenance methyl transferase transfers methyl group to the cytosine.

Which of the following statements about DNA replication is FALSE? Primase synthesizes the primers. DNA polymerase is required to add new nucleotides to the growing ends of the DNA strands. DNA ligase joins the small DNA fragments of the lagging strand. Only one strand of the parent DNA serves as a template for a newly synthesized complementary strand.

Which of the following statements about the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) is false? a The DNA ligase used is from a thermophilic bacteria so that it can resist denaturation at high temperatures. b Newly synthesized DNA must be heat-denatured before the next round of DNA synthesis begins. c The boundaries of the amplified DNA segment are determined by the synthetic oligonucleotides used to prime DNA synthesis. d DNA amplified by PCR can be cloned.

AS Part A Which of the following events occurs during DNA replication? All methylation of the DNA is lost at the first round of replication Methylated DNA is copied in the cytoplasm, and unmethylated DNA is copied in the nucleus Methylation of the DNA is maintained because DNA polymerase directly incorporates methylated nucleotides into the new strand opposite any methylated nucleotides in the template. Methylation of the DNA is maintained because methylation enzymes act at DNA sites where ane strand...
