SDS is an anionic detergent that denatures proteins and coats them with negative charge.

Explanation: SDS act as surfactants and covers the protein with negative charge. One SDS binds with two amino acid and gives negative charge and this gives uniform charge to mass ratio to protein and protein seperates according to size.
