The difference is that in the metaphase 1 of meiosis the
chromosome arrange in two pair wise (synapsis) therefore crossover
takes place while in mitotic metaphase the chromosome arrange as
single pair so no crossover takeplace. In metaphase I of meiosis,
tetrads align on the metaphase plate. In metaphase of meiosis
individual chromosomes align there.
In metaphase 1 of meiosis there is no centromere division but in
metaphase of mitosis it takes place.
Similarity is that the chromosomes are aligned at equator on
metaphase plate which is in between the poles.
