Answer #1

Indole test is a biochemical test which is performed on bacterial species to check whether an organism can convert tryptophan to indole. Tryptophase catalyzes the deamination of tryptophan into pyruvic acid , indole and ammonium ion. Indole is used to confirm tryptophan degradation because tryptophan contains specific side chain indole group (it is specific for tryptophan only)
