Florida Power & Light is attempting to modernize the meters placed at people houses. The company Operations Manager, Mr. Jacob Marina, has asked for your assistance in preparing part of the project plan. Mr. Marina has identified the tasks, durations (in days), and predecessor relationships, and provides them in the following table:

Immediate Most

Activity Predecessor(s) Optimistic Likely Pessimistic

A -- 1 2    4

B A 2 4    8

C B 3 5 15

D C 3 5 12

E D 4 5 11

F D 4 6 17

G E 2 3    8

H E 1 2    4

I E 1 3    6

J G, H, I 2 4 12

K J 2 3    7

L H 2 4    9

M L 2 4    9

N K, M 3 4    12

O E, F 5 10 22

P N, O 1 2    5

Required:

  1. Draw the Activity on Node (AON) network.

  2. Determine the expected completion time and variance for each activity.

  3. Determine the total project completion time and activities along the critical path for the project.

  4. Determine ES, EF, LS, LF, and slack for each activity.

  5. Identify which activities are candidates for crashing, and explain why.

Answer #1

Answer-

All activities on Critical Path (ABCDEHLMNP) are candidates for crashing since they are on critical path and reduction in activity times for these activities will reduce the project duration.

Mean Immediate Optimisti Predecess c Time Probable ic Time (a+4m+b) Variance Pessimist Time Activit Time (m) (b b-a)2/36 ES E
