Answer 1: Fatty acids are derivatives of hydrocarbon. They are the carboxylic acids that have long hydrocarbon chains or ring structures. The length of chain can vary from 4 to 36 carbons. Fatty acids may have the saturated hydrocarbon chains that contain no double bonds or unsaturated chain with one or more double bonds.
