Provide an explanation of how you propose to evaluate the training program on each of these four outcome levels: reaction learning on the job behavior organization results For each level, include what you are specifically measuring, the time frame, a description of the evaluation process, and how the data will be analyzed and reported .

Answer #1

Our company has the seven days training program for the newbie .As a new member I also attended this training program along one of my colleague. Everyday after the program ends we used to discuss the things we understood that particular day about the work ,the rules of the company etc.We felt that the training program was little bit boring and it was just like attending the lecture rather than understanding the work process.

Also the evaluation method of the trainee after the process was like giving the exam. Overall the training method was quite traditional and unsatisfactory.

Now working as an employee, I made the evaluation of the training program which will not only save time and also overall spending on training program.

Hence the evaluation I made is on Kirkpatrick’s Four-Level Training Evaluation. According to this training evaluation, the training process is segregated into four levels .The criteria for level 1(Reaction )and level 2 ( Learning ) are about the trainee ,like what he/she is understanding ,what is his/her satisfactory level. Level 3 (Behavior )and level 4 (Results) is about how effective the training program is ,how employee is utilising it and how effective output the employee is giving and how it is helping the company.

Level

Criteria

Focus

4

Results

Business results achieved by trainees

3

Behavior

Improvement of behaviour on the job

2

Learning

Acquisition of knowledge,skills,attitude,behaviour

1

Reaction

Trainee satisfaction

Reaction : I had attended the training and even on asking few more of my colleagues and other employee, everyone suggested to make an evolution in the process to get a better result . The training process is done in traditional method and in very un-interactive way ,which make the employee lack enthusiasm in learning. Trainer should try to make the training process interesting and also which gives the clear picture about the process, this can happen by demonstrating the knowledge by doing role-play , technology has enabled people to share a visual and audio example ,to make the concept of work clear . Also the real time examples about the work would help in better understand the work culture.

Learning : As level 2 is about learning .Assessing employee performance and skill set after the training program is important ,which would give the clear picture of training impact. The current training program is not that effective as the

Behavior: The training process should clear all the doubt of the trainee ,which should be clearly seen while working .The employee should be confident while working and give effective output.

Results: As it takes seven days for a training process and also the overall spending on the employee training is nearly 155 billion US dollars which makes the average cost of training each employee around 955 US Dollars, therefore the business results achieved by the trainee was not much effective .So making a change in the training process from 7 to 5 days and Instead of giving live training for everything some website or audio video CDs to the employee should be given which will help them to learn and understand by themselves. On the other hand it will turn down the spending on the employee and brings a good percentage of profit to the company.
