Fumarase deficiency is an uncommon metabolic disease which will lead to malformations of brain structures, delay in developments,difference of body structure,neonatal polycythemia, and accumulation of fumaric acid in urine.
Fumarase is mandatory in the conversion of fumarate to malate in the Krebs cycle. Fumarase deficiency leads to a decreased amount of malate produced leads to decreased amount of oxaloacetate. Formation of oxaloacetate is part of the pyruvate carboxylase reaction. The reaction from pyruvate to oxaloacetate is irreversible so the amount of pyruvate will not be affected. If the cycle continues, iit may lead to fewer numbers of all products of the citric acid cycle. So that fumarate will decrease.
