According to Auguste Comte, sociology is defined as a positive science. He identified three basic techniques for discovering it, namely experimentation, observation and comparison. His ideas have been used in developing structural functionalism. His goal was to integrate both theory and practice.

The structural functional approach is an outlook in sociology that works together to promote the solidarity and stability. For example, education has several important functions in a society, such as learning, socialization, and social position.

Emile Durkheim developed theories of social structure that included the division of labor, functionalism, and anomie (means people who does not know how to behave in the social setting). He insists that the schools were essential for transformation of the children from the early age by instructing the social values into the young minds of the children. So, he thought that the schools would play a major role in taking the theories into effect in an easier way. For example, by explaining the concepts in the class room by performing historical events in the class, makes the class alive for the children and they can easily relate the story with the characters performed in the class, so that they can recollect things very easily.

So, the theories by the theorists such as Comte and Durkheim could be used to understand and analyze functions of social world by making the concepts simpler and easier. Say for example, when the teacher starts interacting with each one of the students in the class room after conducting some lively performance of a particular topic in any subject, they students would be more attentive and could participate in the class room more effectively.
