Job analysis is a process of identifying various aspects associated with a job,such as qualifications and necessary skills of job holder, his /her duties, responsibilities, deliverables, and his /her position with respect to hierarchy of the organisation. The job analysis results in formation of the blueprint of the role, which is essential to all aspects of HRM, such as recruitment and selection, job evaluation, appraisal, promotion, determinaton of the worth of a role and the appropariate pay package for it and career progression for a role. Job analysis also provides input for job design and helps in making job description for a role. Since all HR functions start with job analysis, it can be termed as the fundamental building block of HRM.
