Firstly we need to know about what the Cytoplasmic inheritance is?

Cytoplasmic Inheritance is also known as extra-nuclear inheritance.

It is defined as the transmission/ passage of characters/ traits from the parental generation to offspring by the means of structures which are present in cytoplasm are termed as Cytoplasmic Inheritance.

It is also known as Maternal inheritance.

Example of Maternal inheritance is explained in following figure showing the example of Limnaea peregra (Fresh Water Snail)
