Answer #1

1) Usually recommended daily intake of folate for adult women is 400 mcg per day whereas during pregnancy folate requirement increases substantially.

Hence, Women during pregnancy the folate daily requirement is about 600 mcg/day.

This shows that there is increase of 600 mcg - 800 mcg during pregnancy/400 mcg of adult women without pregnancy = 1.5 to 2 times increase in need of folate/folic acid is there during pregnancy.

2) If preeclampsia left untreated it becomes eclampsia which is more life-threatening. When preeclampsia patient worsens and affect the brain. This leads to the seizures/convulsions (grandma seizures) and develops into the eclampsia.

Preeclampsia is characterised by high blood pressure during pregnancy and also during post partum. It is also characterised by the high protein in the urine (proteinuria).
