Explanation: Chronic alcohol consumption (ethanol consumption) causes an accumulation of NADH. Ethanol affects the liming of the stomach and intestines causing impaired absorption of nutrients. The gut microbiota has the ability to causes the metabolism of the dietary carbohydrates into alcohols which are absorbed by passive diffusion. Alcohol that is absorbed is metabolized in the liver. Increased NADH causes fatty liver.
