Leaders are those people who lead their followers but transformational leaders are those who lead their followers towards growth, development and inspire them to achieve the common goals. Self awareness is one of the main trait of transformational leaders because self awareness help them to know what they think about themselves and how other perceive them as leader. Self-awareness is not a destination point, but rather an emerging process where one continually comes to understand his or her unique talents, strengths, sense of purpose, core values, beliefs and desires.

Transformational leaders develop this trait by keeping track of their performance, strengths and weaknesses and work on them. they control their emotions and actions which make them disciplined and self controlled leader.If transformational leaders are not able to know about themselves then they are not effective to lead others as they lack self perception and image which may vary person to person. for example- transformational leader may think himself weak leader while his action may put him in a image where his followers may perceive him as strong leader. the actions, skills, traits, qualities,experience of transformational leader make them self aware about themselve and they develop themselve as well as their followers.

Leaders develop through education, experience and mentoring by providing knowledge and experience that had in the past and impart or transfer that to their followers. for example- if a political leader has experience of many years in politics and he wants to take break from politics then he would give all his knowledge, experience to his follower whom he trust so that his follower can fight in politics.

This same goes in business where leaders like Manager of department or supervisor provide training to employees in order to improve their skills and knowledge to do perform better in future. at school,we see sports coach give their knowledge, experience like sports techniques, moves to win the game to sports player this way. leader sharpen their skills and knowledge and provide mentoring and education to their followers.Without education, experience and mentoring, the leaders will not have developed followers and leadership will be ineffective.
