Answer #1

Answer 1:

Given graph shows the diagram of inventory level as a function of time for the basic EOQ (economic order quantity) model.

Explanation: Given graph depicts the resulting pattern of inventory levels over time when we start at time 0 by ordering a batch of Q units in order to increase the initial inventory level from 0 to Q and then repeat this process each time the inventory level drops back down to 0.

Parameters:

a: A known constant demand rate

Q: Order quantity

Q/a: The Order Cycle Time or Time between 2 orders

The objective is to determine when and by how much to replenish inventory so as to minimize the sum of all costs per unit time.

Answer 2:

Following methods can be mentioned from Unconstrained Minimization Methods:

  • methods without derivatives (direct search, finite differences);
  • methods based on the knowledge of the first derivatives (gradient, conjugate directions, quasi-Newton);
  • methods based on the knowledge of the first and second derivatives (Newton).

Please give thumbsup, if you like it. Thanks.

    6. Engagement Activity: The t Test for Two Related Samples In the last chapter, you were introduced to Professor Ken Bonanno's Statistical Methods in Psychology class, where students are asked to complete a research study as a part of the semester-long course. Many of his students' research questions could be asked using the independent-measures t test, but there are other approaches, which will be explored in this chapter. Click the following topics to see some sample questions asked by Professor Bonanno's students....

    Problem Set 1: The independent-samples t test Research Scenario: A learning psychologist is interested in comparing the success of two different mnemonics (memorization methods) on performance in a memory task. He assigns students to two groups, one which learns and uses a language-based rhyming memory technique, and one which learns and uses a visual “method of loci” spatial memory technique. He then administers a memory task to each group of students. The students are scored based on the percentage of...

    1. State your research topic. This is the broad umbrella under which your research question will fall. For example: Cancer care at end of life 2. Literature review. Provide a brief review of the literature (2-3 paragraphs) that leads the reader to your research question. Cite a few articles that introduce your topic. Then narrow your focus. For example, “Smith (2018), Jones (2017) and others have examined the frequency of chemotherapy use in the last 4 weeks of life, but...

    please answer E) graph is from a recent article that looked at differences in characteristics between cannabis users and non-drug users of patients at their first hospitalization due to psychotic symptoms. The authors were interested if current cannabis use had an increased risk for re- hospitalization. The outcome of interest was time in between first to second admission for psychotic symptoms. The authors report on a cohort of 318 patients of which 106 (33.3%) were cannabis users. (16 points) -No-drugs...
