Answer #1

Ans 1

pH of HC2H3O2 = 3.7

[H+] = 10^-pH = 10^-3.7 = 1.995 x 10^-4 M

Acid dissociation constant Ka = 1.8*10^-5

Dissociation reaction

HC2H3O2 = H+ + C2H3O2-

Equilibrium constant expression of the reaction

Ka = [ H+] [C2H3O2-] / [HC2H3O2]

1.8*10^-5 = [ 1.995 x 10^-4] [1.995 x 10^-4] / [HC2H3O2]

[HC2H3O2] = 2.21 x 10^-3 M
