1)stages of labor are the series of events occuring when the women is in her last trimester .stages of labor are broadly divided in three parts first stage is the time between the first terine contractions to the time the cervix is fully dilated ,2nd stage is from the cervix fully dilated to child birth, third stage is the time frame between child birth and till the placenta is delivered completely
2)Labor is mostly conducted at home ,hospitals by a registered nurse,a midwife and a gynecologist. There are many birth options of which a woman can choose on management of pain by use of analgesia, epidural anesthesia.or opting for a C section, vaccum or forcep delivery
3)Advance directive in the form of a birth will is formed now which enables mothers to legally make a will plan on the birth options they would want to choose rather being forced into any medical intervention unless there is any need for Emergency.
4)There are many complications during the last stage of labor like should being in distress, meconium passing in the fluid, amniotic embolism, seizures, eclampsia, preeclampsia. All these complications can be tackeled by taking appropriate prenatal vitamins, quit smoking, alcohol, control diabetes, hypertension,be informed about the procedure ,communicate to the medical workers in case of any fear and anxiety.register for Antenatal care to a nearby obstretician.continius electrical monitoring of the baby will help in understanding the babies distress level .
Underlying principles
Underlying principles in labour is about maintaining a balance of muscles when the mother is in the active stage of labour the loose muscles which are not right gives way to the baby to flex the body little by little .The labor begins with irregular contractions which becaomes regular as time goes by .so the principle in having a safe delivery is by encouraging the mother to push down along with the contractions which will reduce pain to push the baby out .The mother should be relaxed at all times.ee can use forcep or vaccum delivery in case of any fetal distress.so the three basic principles in labor are loose muscles, gravity and movement
Nursing intervention
