Discuss the relationship among sensory experience, common sense, passive reason, and active reason.
Aristotle described that the senses provide valuable information about the different environmental factors such as taste, touch, hearing, smell and sight. It was considered as the initial step in acquiring knowledge. Thus, sensory experience can be defined as a sufficient and a necessary type of element that is used for the attainment of knowledge.
Aristotle also hypothesized common sense that describes as the mechanism of coordinating the essential information from all the senses. It refers to the mental functions that were assumed to be located in the heart. It segregates sensory experience that makes it more meaningful and powerful.
Passive reason refers to the utilization of synthesized experience that gets effectively in the day to day life. It does not result in the abstracting of principles and the understanding of essences.
Active reason can be defined as the abstraction of the first principles from experiences of one’s own mind activities and body thoughts. It is also considered as the highest level of thinking from synthesized experience.
