Summarize Aristotle’s views on imagination and dreaming.
Aristotle’s philosophy concluded that empirical and rational are two separate components that are different from each other in their logical viewpoint. Memory and Recall comes under the category of empiricism that focusely explains about the concept of imagination and dreaming.
According to Aristotle, imagination occurs by the creation of images that lasts long by the stimulation factor. They act as the important link between sensation and rational thoughts that provides imaginable experiences by the active and passive intellection. Imagination also justifies the lingering effects of sensory experience. It is more susceptible to error by removing the close relationship between objects of sense and sense organs.
Aristotle also described dreaming in context with the images of past experience. During sleep, the images of past experience can be triggered by various events that are occurring inside or outside the body. The images can easily be seen during a dream are controlled and coordinated by sensory stimulation that interacts with the images of previous experience. Dreaming allows predicting usable information about the major future goals and events.
