Phenotype plant 1 was selfed in the progeny 100 phenotype plants of type 1 and 60 plants of phenotype 2 are resulted. The numbers that are compatible with the expected ratios is given by the genetic hypothesis on the basis of the calculation.
For about 160 progeny the number and ratio of phenotype 1: phenotype 2 differs. It has to be 90:70 or 130:30 or 120:40. But, out of these three only 9:7 ratio seems to be feasible showing that two genes are assorting independently.
