Carl Ransom Rogers was an American psychologist, who proposed theory of humanistic approach to psychology along with others. He along with few others is considered as the psychotherapy research’s founding father.

He was awarded with the Distinguished Scientific Contributions for his path breaking research on humanistic approach by the American Psychological Association (APA) in 1956 and 1972. He possessed person-centered approach for understanding personality and human relationships. He studied on various domains of psychotherapy and counseling.

To measure the effectiveness of psychotherapy, Roger developed a theory of personality. It was concerned on self-actualization and stated that if people use the analyzing tendency to shape up their lives, they have more chances to fulfill their aims and reach to their extreme potential. He stated this condition as the organismic valuing process.
