• Refer Figure 8-15. A change in the mutation on the nitrogenous base-A (adenine) instead of the base G (guanine) would alter the binding site of the U1 SNP (small nuclear protein) protein during splicing and prevent the formation of spliceosome.
• This type of mutations also prevents the self-splicing process in some of lower eukaryotes.
• When the activity of spliceosome is inhibited the process of removal of introns would be affected, leading the formation of an entirely different product altogether.
