The carboxy tail domain of the β subunit belonging to the ribonucleic acid (RNA) polymerase II enzyme has the binding sites required for RNA processing. It is located near the site of nascent RNA emergence. If there is any mutation at this point, then there will not be any cap formation at the 5? end even though all the requisite enzymes are normal.
