An obvious fact is that even in diploid eukaryotic cell, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) replication follows the semi-conservative mode of replication. Therefore, Meselson and Stahl experiment have worked if diploid eukaryotic cells had been used instead. This experiment was conducted in order to support the hypothesis that DNA replicates in a semiconservative way. As the diploid eukaryote also replicates in semi-conservative mode of replication, the experiment would have worked with it.
