Answer: Asculating fetal heart rate:

  1. Description of skill: Fetus heart rate is measured to monitor the growth of the fetus. This is perfomed with the healp of stethoscope or the electronic equipment.
  2. Indication and nursing intervention: The normal heart beat ranges between 110- 140 beats per minute. The nurse should intervene about the normal range of the heart beat. If any abnormal symptoms occurs, nurse should instantly take action. Nurse should monitor the mother's vital signs.
  3. Clients Education: It is important to make the client understand regarding the requirements during pregnancy. Encourage client to increase intake of water. Educate the cliey regarding proper nutrition.
  4. Potential complications: If the heart rate shows abnormal reading then there is major problem as the fetus is not getting sufficient oxygen or blood supply.
