Physical activity and fitness benefit people’s physical and psychological well-being and improve their resistance to disease. The components of fitness are flexibility, muscle strength, muscle endurance, and cardio-respiratory endurance. To build fitness, a person must engage in regular physical activity.

By now it is a well known fact that exercise is very useful for human body and have great health benefits. The physical exercises have both short term and long term benefits.

1. The short term benefits of exercise are

Exercise causes increase in heart rate and respiratory rate. Increased heart rate help the heart to supply more oxygenated and nutrient rich blood to muscles that are working and various parts of the body. Increased respiration help us take more oxygen into the body.

Sweating occurs during the exercise. The increases sweat help in elimination of more waste products produced in the body.

Body needs glucose to perform exercise. The utilisation of glucose prevents the body from storing excess glucose in the body. Exercise also helps in fat loss and increases flexibility.

2. The long term benefits of exercise are

Regular exercise helps in making the cardiovascular system strong and healthy. This reduces the risk of having cardiovascular diseases.

This helps reduce the risk of getting diabetes and hypertension. In people who are already diabetic and hypertensive exercise helps check the blood glucose levels and blood pressure.

Regular exercise helps increase muscle mass which increases the basal metabolic rate. Increased bmr and exercise also keeps the weight in check so that it eliminates the chances of obesity and all the risks associated with it.

It is also known to improve immunity and brain power. Increases immunity help body fight infections better. Increases brain power and health will have academic success and many other benefits.

These are few of the many benefits of regular exercise.
