Socialization in the workplace is defined as the process by which a person acquires the technical skills of their society, the knowledge and types of behavior that are acceptable, and the attitudes and values that make conformity with social rules personally meaningful (Huston, 2014). Socialization with colleagues is beneficial in creating a better learning environment and can be especially helpful when a graduated nurse is transitioning into the workplace. An environment that promotes socialization amongst colleagues provides an environment of open communication and allows for new colleagues to get adapted to their new environment. An environment that promotes open communication upon colleagues is critical to meet patient needs and provide a safer environment and improve the quality of care of the patients.
